RAINN, Says Rapists, not Rape Culture, Should be Blamed. Feminists Say They Don’t Know What They’re Talking About

This news is fairly old, but I found that I had the beginnings of this blog in my drafts and never posted it, so here we are. RAINN stands for Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. The are “the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of “America’s 100 Best Charities” by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local rape crisis centers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helplinefor the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.

You might think that when an organization of this caliber writes a letter to a White House task force people take what is in the letter very seriously. They might actually believe what is in the letter or open their minds a little and think maybe the most prominent anti-rape organization in America knows a thing or two about rape. So when RAINN says, “In the last few years, there has been an unfortunate trend towards blaming “rape culture” for the extensive problem of sexual violence on campuses. While it is helpful to point out the systemic barriers to addressing the problem, it is important to not lose sight of a simple fact: Rape is caused not by cultural factors but by the conscious decisions, of a small
percentage of the community, to commit a violent crime.
” You would think people concerned with rape and or rape culture might stop and think a little.

Not a large majority of feminists, though. It’s their way or the highway. RAINN picked the wrong side. Rape culture is obviously the only reason people are raped and we absolutely must continue to talk about it. Just look at these google results.

Clearly, RAINN needs to get its head out of its ass before it hurts itself and listen to these internet heroes. There are couple of issues I want to address with the remainder of this blog.

First, I get into many a Facebook debate. Sometimes with feminists. Whenever I pose an alternate point of view to some article about cultural appropriation or some such shenanigans, I get called a misogynistic, ignorant, privileged, white male. Therefore any opinion I have is invalid. I never get a counter debate to a point I make or any level of respect. I get talked down to and told to read the holy scriptures that are sociological and anthropological articles someone learned about in their gender studies classes at college. I’m sick of it. The goal of a social movement is to gain support from the masses in the hopes of enacting political change through the democratic process. Last time I checked being huge dicks to white males and anyone who doesn’t agree with you in anyway is a bad fucking way to get support.

Second thing I want to address is this whole nonsense about having signs that say, “Don’t get raped Don’t Rape” These signs are all about how rape culture is bad and teaches women to avoid rapey situations and what not rather then teaching people not to rape. As a normal, non-raping male do you know how offensive it is to see a sign that is 100% directed at me that says “Don’t Rape”? Yes. Because if a really drunk girl walks by me I just can’t help myself and I’ll probably rape her. I’m just one dark alley alone with a girl away from being a rapist. ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!? They don’t teach don’t rape because people know not to fucking rape. I don’t need a fucking sign and a whole trimester of health class in high school to teach me not to rape. I fucking know it. Men aren’t the scum of the Earth. We aren’t just primal beasts, apparently so on the edge of rape, that a tube top and a mini skirt will push us over the edge.

All these supporters of anti-rape culture and all that jazz preach a whole lot about tolerance, acceptance, etc etc etc, unless of course you’re a white, male or your opinions don’t 100% align with theirs, then its just “go fuck yourself”. Maybe practice what you preach.
