So in Illinois they actually passed a law that said if you used medical marijuana you had to turnover your guns. They repealed it, but still the lack of logic used in these debates and legislation is just staggering. Absolutely staggering. Alcohol is legal and everyone knows its illegal to use a firearm if you’re drunk. It’s not like weed is some alien substance that no one understands. It alters your mental state and you shouldn’t be allowed to use guns no matter how you’ve chosen to alter your mind.
“In the state, gun buyers are required to show ID before they can purchase handguns. Anyone who buys a gun must fill out a federal form that asks whether the buyer is an “unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance.“
Yes. Because when I fill out forms that ask me questions I always fill them out truthfully. Like when I wasn’t 18 and wanted to watch porn….I mean watch violent video game trailers, I always said my real age when the websites asked me how old I was. Always. I didn’t watch porn or play a violent video game until I was 18. I didn’t even have a boner until I was 18 because I knew it was illegal for me to have sex before then.
I just don’t understand why people think alcohol is so much different then marijuana. “Better not give those cancer patients smokin’ all that weed firearms. Nothing says people getting violent and rowdy like high cancer patients.” Sounds really dumb when I write it like that. Here’s another one: “Better not give anyone who’s had a DUI the ability to purchase a firearm, since it clearly shows a lack of responsibility for drugs and safety. I mean if they’re willing to drive a car when they’re drunk they’re probably willing to shoot a gun at cans when their drunk right?” Too bad you can legally get a gun with a DUI as long as it wasn’t a felony offense. It varies by state. In Texas you have to wait like 5 years.
Maybe we should get our shit together involving guns and our legal drugs before we get uppity about people with cancer, AIDS or glaucoma who also smoke weed getting their hands on firearms.
