The ACL Tear Heard Around Patriot Nation and Other Thoughts From Yesterday’s Game

This game was not pretty. The first half was the most frustrating half of Patriots football this season. At least, when we had a million turnovers against the Broncos our offense was moving down the field a decent amount. This game, it was just stalled drive after stalled drive, unable to do anything. A 6-0 first half finish is terrible. I’m concerned our offense hinges too much on our halftime adjustments in order to get anything done, and our defense isn’t strong enough to keep us in the game if we, literally can’t score in the first half.

The second half was a tribute to adjustments once again and provided a glimmer of hope that maybe we can have an offense even without Gronk. The Pats had yet to score when Gronk got carted off the field, so we might have some Super Bowl hope left. The All Shane Vereen Offense appears pretty effective. The second scoring drive was literally all Shane Vereen 72 yards and the touchdown. There was a fantastic catch and throw off a streak from the wideout position, and Vereen’s cast finally didn’t affect him from making a great catch. Julian Edelman continues to impress, and Danny Amendola will probably see an uptick in receptions without Gronk in the mix.

Defensively, we looked very bad. Anytime Jason Campbell looks like a top tier quarterback, it is concerning. Belichick likes to take away your best weapons on offense but both Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron had a night, so I’m not too sure what he was going for. Aqib Talib was left alone with Gordon for a lot of the game and it cost us dearly on that 80 yard touchdown. I’m still not sure why people are leaving Gordon isolated with man-to-man coverage. Have they not seen his game film? He’s the fastest dude on the field. Pretty sure he has an 80 yard TD in his past 3 games. I wish someone had asked Bill about this in his post game conference instead of asking poorly worded questions about momentum and shit.

All in all, at least we won. Those CBS commentators were the worst I had ever seen in my life. I’m confident neither one was completely literate nor had they played a game of football in their lives.

P.S. I don’t care about the pass interference call on Boyce. If you don’t like it eat a dick.
